Harold Watson’s “Trey” Gowdy III is a US lawyer, former attorney,  politician and current U.S. Representative for the 4th Congressional District of South Carolina. In the South Carolina Appeals Court, he began a legal career as a cleric, and then served as a federal prosecutor in the early 1990s in the District of South Carolina.

For about six years, he has been prosecuting varied federal crimes and achieving the highest ratings that a two-year-old federal prosecutor can achieve. He served as a prosecutor of the seventh South Carolina Judicial Circuit until his elective in Congress, a Member of the Republican Party and Tea Party movement.

Gowdy sits in the House of Commons on Government Reform and Oversight, Ethics, Employment and Workforce and Judiciary, as a US House delegate since 2011. He is also the Chairman of the Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security and Investigations Subcommittee of the Judicial Committee. Trey Gowdy was born on 22 August 1964 to Dr Harold Watson’s “Hal” Gowdy, Jr and Novalene, born Evans, in the province of Greenville, South Carolina. In Spartanburg, he was raised.
He would work on the community market in his young age and also supply local newspapers. In 1982, he finished high school in Spartanburg.
He graduated from the Baylor University in History in 1986. He subsequently graded as Juris from the South Carolina School of Law  (University of South Carolina) in 1989, remaining a member of the Order of Wig and Robe scholastic honorary society.

He started his legal career as an employé and served on the Court of Appeal for John P. Gardner and the US District Court judge, George Ross Anderson.
In April 1994, he was elected US federal prosecutor. He then practiced privately. He was the investigator of a wide range of federal crimes, including child-related cases like child murder, bank robberies and narcotics trafficking rings among others.

He tried to convict one of the most wanted criminals in America, J. He was successful. The Postal Inspector’s Award was won by Allen. He has received the highest ratings successively as a federal public prosecutor for two years.
Gowdy left the U.S. Attorney’s Office in February 2000 to run for the 7th Circuit Solicitor.

He beat incumbent lawyer Holman Gossett in the Republican Primary, while he was unopposed during the general elections, thus became the Seventh Judicial Circuit Solicitor for South Carolina.
Gowdy, head of a 25-member office, took several initiatives to create a Worthless Check Program and a Violence Against Women Task Force as a 7th Solicitor.

In Summer 2009, the Republican Congressman, Bob Inglis, was challenged and Gowdy announced his intent to run for the US House of Representatives in elections for the South Carolina 4th District.

Gowdy won 39% of the vote at the June 2010 primary election, while the UK and Jim Lee, David L. Thomas and Christina Jeffrey, respectively, received 27%, 14%, 13%, and 7%.
Since he could not obtain 50% votes, he and Inglis held a run-off election where he won 70% of the votes. He then defeated, among others, Democrat candidate Paul Corden, to win the Fourth Election of the South Carolina Conference District, 2010. On 4 May 2015, he was appointed head of the House special panel to investigate the Benghazi attacks in 2012. On May 20, Gowdy gave Trump his support, saying he was a “rubio” man, but Trump would receive his support as a presumptive republican nominee when Rubio lost primarily to Trump in his homeland, Florida, on 15 March 2016. Rubio pulled away from the presidential race.
