In March 2009, Entertainment Weekly announced that Burruss would replace DeShawn Snow in the second season of The Royal Housewives of Atlanta. The introduction of Burruss had multiple storylines, originally she had recently been engaged to her boyfriend A.J. And shared interest in reviving her career as a singer.

A feud formed between Nene Leakes and Burruss, who became friends with Zolciak and helped her record her single “Tardy for the Party.” Burrus returned for the third season he recorded, while Zolciak and Burruss continued to record music together, clashing over their artistic differences.
